Reno is a vibrant city in the western portion of the state of Nevada, approximately 22 miles southwest of Lake Tahoe, called the “Biggest Little City in the World.” Known for its love of tourists and its convenient location, it’s not hard to see why Reno and its surrounding area have become a popular destination for travel, leisure, and vacation options. You will find all kinds of amenities, including hotels, lodges, bed and breakfasts, inns, and other accommodations. Of course, there are also the famous Las Vegas Strip, the local attractions, and the famous pyramids of Egypt at Giza.
In addition to all the great things to do in Reno, Nevada, you will find that there are a number of museums to visit, including the U.S. Air Force Museum, the Museum of Ancient Things, and the Reno Art Museum. The U.S. Air Force Museum educates children about the history of the air force. The Museum of Ancient Things explores the development of mankind through the centuries. And the Reno Art Museum is the home to a collection of art that represents many of the cultures and ethnic groups that settled in the United States.
One of the best places to eat while on vacation in Reno is the Bistro Grille on Third Street. This family-owned restaurant offers an excellent meal with a great menu. You can choose from platters with shrimp, lobster tails, crab cakes, lobster tails with cocktail sauce, and prime rib. You can also order a barbeque spread which comes with the entrees and drinks. The Nevada museum has a great exhibit, “American Indian Gaming”, that allows visitors to learn about the different types of gaming available in the state.
If you want to travel out of town to a more remote area, you have a number of options. You can take a train ride, take a rickshaw, or take advantage of the new bus routes. The best option is to travel by yourself if you are comfortable traveling alone. However, if you prefer the company of another person or a group, the best way to travel in a group is by hiring one of the many tours available in Nevada. One of the most popular tours is the “Cerious Carriage Tour” which is led by a professional carpenter.
If you are looking for a unique place to visit in the United States, you might want to travel to the beautiful town of Reno, Nevada. Known as the “Reno Revolution” because of its proud history, Reno offers a number of things to do. Visitors can enjoy a free concert at Center Square Park, take in the historic downtown areas, go horseback riding along the famous Reno River, or explore the fascinating history of the reno arch. The Truckee river was named for the first American president, and is a popular stop on the Telephone Road, which run from Reno-Sparks, to Truckee, to Elko, to Billings, and Nehi, and home to a number of attractions.
Reno is also host to a large number of family-friendly fun activities, including rodeos, free concerts, and shows at the grand Sierra resort. The Sierra resort is a legendary hotspot for shows featuring some of Nevada’s finest entertainers such as the Silverado Fire Breathing Circus, the Grand Canyon Jeep Tours, and the Blue Man Group. All shows are free to attend. Visitors can also enjoy the shopping and dining opportunities available in the Grand Sierra Resort. Besides shopping, dinning, and lounging, visitors are permitted to take a driving tour of the park, which is located just north of Reno.
Finally, if you are in the mood for a good adventure, there are several black rock desert safaris available. Visitors may go on a Jeep Tour, a Caravan Adventure, or a Footloose Scootin’ Safari, among other activities. Visitors can find many campgrounds in the black rock desert, including Brushy Creek Campgrounds, Long Valley Campgrounds, and Truckee Meadows Campgrounds. They may even choose to stay at an RV, cabin, tent, or private home that rests among the natural beauty of the desert. There are a number of great bed and breakfast locations in the area, ranging from elegant to rustic, and everything in between. Of course, no trip to Reno would be complete without experiencing one of the numerous hot air balloon rides, whether it’s an exciting ride over Lake Washo or around Hoover Dam.
